Professor Marilyn McMeniman is currently Deputy Vice Chancellor and Provost at Griffith University. She has held academic positions at both the University of Queensland and Griffith University since 1973.

She was the inaugural Head of Griffith's School of Languages and Applied Linguistics in 1994-95, and served as Dean of Education at Griffith from 1996 to 2001. Her main teaching and research interests include publications in the areas of language acquisition, learning and policy; teaching and learning processes (strategic learning); and motivation to learn.

She has co-authored eight national and state reviews and reports relating to language learning, and educational research. Throughout her career, she has provided advice to governments, to industry and to the wider profession and community and in 1997, she was made a Member of the Order of Australia for service to education.
