John Agard is an Afro-Guyanese playwright, poet, short-story and children’s writer based in south-east England. His poetry has won the Casa de las Américas Prize (1982), the Paul Hamlyn Award for poetry (1997), the CLPE Poetry Award (2009), and the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry (2012). His latest poetry collection is Travel Light Travel Dark (Bloodaxe Books, 2013).
