Alan Carter

Alan Carter has worked in a variety of fields during the course of his working life. He was worked in the corporate sector as an insurance broker for major clients in the resources and construction industry; as a political adviser; as state manager for a not-for-profit organisation working in the biodiversity and natural resource management sector; and as a planning and strategy consultant for a large state-based government trading enterprise.
In more recent years, Alan established a small consulting business focusing on strategy and planning advice with a particular focus on reconciliation and Aboriginal policy issues. Much of his work also focuses on developing opportunities for ‘creating shared value’ and developing place-based solutions for public policy issues.
He has a Bachelor of Arts with a major in History; a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainability Policy; and he is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also a director of the Reconciliation WA Board and was its inaugural co-chair; and he is also co-chair of Bringing Them Home WA.
